Validation and Verification Bodies
What is validation and verification?
Validation and verification are pivotal in upholding the integrity and quality of the projects certified under ERS’s programme and methodologies.
These processes are carried out by validation/verification bodies (VVBs) – competent, independent third-party auditors accredited by ERS. VVBs are specialists in the ERS programme and the specific sectoral scope or technical domain they assess.
Validation is a third-party evaluation conducted following the Project’s Assessment. Its principal aim is to review the Project's Provisional Project Design Document (PDD), the veracity of its data, and its compliance with ERS Programme and Methodology.
Verification is a third-party evaluation conducted every two years, starting at year four, throughout the issuance period of the Project. Its principal objective is to verify the information reported annually by Developers, ERS’ GHG emissions and removals calculations and to examine the Project’s adherence to its initial PDD.
For ERS Programme
During Validation or Verification, VVBs rigorously evaluate projects against the ERS Programme and the applied methodologies.
VVBs may be located anywhere in the world and are eligible to conduct Validation and Verification under the ERS Programme if they are accredited by ERS and listed as Active.

Carbon Check (India) is a globally recognized organization that has validated and verified an extensive portfolio of greenhouse gas (GHG) projects worldwide. The organisation has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Body (NABCB) to carry out Verification and Validation for Afforestation and Reforestation Scope as per ISO 14065:2020.
