Project Objective
In Colombia’s vast landscapes, where nature once flourished, Forest Green envisions revival. This project aims to restore 10,000 hectares of degraded land, breathing life back into ecosystems and creating lasting benefits for local communities. Each tree planted serves a purpose:
- Empowering local communities and youth to actively participate in environmental restoration.
- Combining reforestation with sustainable farming to combat poverty and enhance livelihoods.
- Ensuring long-term sustainability through secure land tenure, with reforestation efforts focused on owned and community-managed land to promote lasting stewardship.
Project Highlights
Nestled in the Colombian Andes, a region rich in biodiversity faces the lasting impacts of deforestation and unsustainable land use. Through Forest Green’s "One Person-One Tree" initiative, 50,000 trees will be planted in the first phase, with a long-term goal of reforesting 10,000 hectares. Beyond restoring ecosystems, the project will safeguard water sources and strengthen local economies, ensuring that conservation efforts are community-driven and rooted in secure land ownership.
Livelihood & Community Engagement
This project supports both the environment and the people who depend on it. Farmers will adopt sustainable agroforestry practices, while women play key roles in tree planting, skill-building, and leadership. With a focus on owned and community-managed land, the initiative creates community-approved green jobs in reforestation, land management, and monitoring. These efforts diversify incomes, reduce poverty, and empower local communities to take ownership of their natural resources. By securing land tenure and ensuring local participation, the project fosters not just forests, but long-term economic stability, resilience, and environmental stewardship.
